Mariella Celia

Dancer, actress, movement coach, choreographer, she graduated in 2008 at the National Academy of Dance in Rome. Beside her academic studies she carries on a personal training path doing different experiences of release technique, floor work and improvisation dance in Europe and receiving a scholarship for the Impulstanz Festival in Vienna for two years. In 2013 she obtains the Master Le Artiterapie, at the University of Roma Tre. She deepens over the years different somatic disciplines including Feldenkrais, Ideokinesi and Body-Mind Centering®, graduating in 2019 in London, as a Somatic Movement Educator (BMC® ). She works as a dancer/actress with several choreographers and directors in Italy and abroad including: Emma Dante, Raffaella Giordano, Giorgio Rossi, Mario Martone, Stefano Mazzotta, Emanuele Sciannamea (Compagnia Zerogrammi), Oretta Bizzarri, Patrizia Cavola (Compagnia Atacama), Ismael Ivo (Brazil), Modjgan Hashemian (Berlin), Vimprodanco, Vienna Improvisation Dance Company, Luca Silvestrini (UK), Compagnia gruppo E-motion, Compagnia Aleph. From 2008 to 2011 she lives and works in Berlin where she collaborates among others with the artist Enrico Pietracci and the photographer Susanna Kraus, with whom she creates site specific performances based on the relationship between dance and visual arts. With the musicians Andreas Waelti, Oliver Ruth and Tobias Backhaus, she creates an improvisation group of dance and live music (Free Jazz), guest in prestigious international music festivals. From 2013 to today she is Associate Artist Sosta Palmizi.
In 2014 she is author and performer of “Sleep elevation”, a work co-produced by Sosta Palmizi and Atacama Associations. In collaboration with Giorgio Rossi she is choreographer of “Cielo di marzo”, a creation for the corps de ballet of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome; she is Giorgio Rossi’s assistant in “Le Mélange des Anges” creative residence at the École des Sables of Dakar in the framework of the exchange project “Italie, Culture, Afrique” promoted by MIBACT, Accademia Nazionale di Danza, Italian Embassy of Dakar, Italian Institute of Culture; “Una città dell’acqua”, Cantieri dell’Immaginario, L’Aquila (2012); “Carmen” Opera with the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, Opéra Théâtre de Saint-Étienne (2013). Her last creation, “Bisbigliata Creatura”, in collaboration with Cinzia Sità, wins the InDivenire Prize 2019. She is currently engaged as an actress in the project “Bandita” by Arianna Pozzoli and in activities in the field of Instant composition, with a specific research of dialogue between somatics, dance and sound, with the musician Ivan Macera. She takes care of the scenic movements of the shows of Prose Theatre: “Pilade è morto”, directed by Daniele Nuccetelli, Rome, 2016; “L’inciampo”, directed by Eduardo Ricciardelli, Rome, 2017; “Anastasia”, directed by Martina Badiluzzi, project winner of the Biennale Teatro 2019 announcement. Her experience in the pedagogical field begins in 2006 and continues, in a perspective of constant research and renewal until today through the conduction of lessons and seminars aimed at actors, dancers and performers in different Italian structures including, Balletto di Roma, Carrozzerie Not, Teatro Azione Rome, Scuola dei mestieri dello spettacolo of Teatro Biondo in Palermo, directed by Emma Dante, UNICAL University of Calabria, Viagrande Sudios, Catania, MuVet, Spazio danza, Bologna. From 2018 to today she is part of the teaching staff of the Master Theatre, Pedagogy and Didactics of the University of Studies Suor Orsola Benincasa in Naples.
