Tu non mi perderai mai, danced and choreographed by Raffaella Giordano, had its premiere in Milan in 2005 upon the invitation of Umberto Angelini at Uovo Performing Arts Festival. Nowadays Raffaella presents its recreation, through a long and meticulous work of transmission, entrusting it to the young choreographer and author Stefania Tansini. A challenge lived with gratitude in the heart of love for dance, a deep love where being able to dig deep into the substance of writing, the first guide of the path.

After twenty years, the handover of the solo Tu non mi perderai mai from Raffaella Giordano to Stefania Tansini will be eagerly awaited. Protagonist of the present “historical” (Carolyn Carlson, Pina Bausch, Sosta Palmizi), Giordano is still a tireless instigator of sensitive choreographic encounters, always ready to point out new paths and courageously change course. This time the path is clear and it couldn’t have been chosen better. The author of a highly mysterious and elusive piece has entrusted its reinterpretation to a special artist: freely inspired by the “Song of Songs,” Tu non mi perderai mai is the only one that truly suits Tansini’s intimate and “sacred” simplicity. At stake is the difficult passing of the baton from one body to another, but above all the direction of a search that can and must derail with unexpected implications.
Giordano explored the biblical text of the Song of Songs with hypnotic results. It was impossible to take your eyes off her minimalist, slow, and understated movements; her arms formed perfect curves, touching the ground as if it were the skin of her beloved… but the subtle amorous call remained unanswered, accompanied by caresses of sound, like breaths of wind. Presence/absence in a desert of gestural fragments springing forth in geometry and tranquility: the author made a long-awaited promise to herself and to the audience. A lingering for someone not in the flesh and blood and here far from the Song of Songs, but also for a life not yet lived, for a suspended desire.
Giordano and Tansini are similar but not identical personalities. Thus, the creation could be reborn with that subtle, melancholic estrangement typical of a soloist emerging from a situation of complexity and countless veiled tensions. The secret message launched on the waves, destined to reach a beach where no one knows who will read it or how (Adorno), will certainly become a medium of sensory tenderness and painful challenges, just waiting to be discovered.
